nothing like melted marshmallows balanced with a little snap, crackle, and pop!

Y’all, I cannot claim crispy rice treats as my own! My veganization of this sweet US-American snack is unique only because it mentions the winners of my vegan butter and marshmallows product reviews.

Kellogg’s, of course, solidly owns this confection; no matter how many times I say “crispy rice treat”, “Rice Krispies treat” remains the catchier term.

Veganization: Crispy Rice Treats

Description

The winners of my vegan butter and marshmallows product reviews make this vegan crispy rice treats recipe a winner too.

Other brands will work, but those listed herein will yield a superior dessert.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Grease and line a 9x13-in (22x33-cm) pan with parchment.

  2. In a large pasta or stock pot over medium-low heat, melt butter.

  3. Add marshmallows. Slowly and constantly stir until completely melted.

  4. Remove from heat, then add cereal* (plus mix-in if using) and thoroughly combine.

  5. Press mixture into prepared pan. Use a smooth glass or mug bottom to achieve a level top.

Pack firmly and evenly, but not forcefully. Dense crispy rice treats can tough to bite!
  6. Cool to room temperature (about 2 hours). Finally, remove from pan and cut into 24 treats.

Note

*The name brand Rice Krispies cereal unfortunately isn't considered vegan due to sheep-derived D3. US-nationally available vegan options include:
